Green Cross France (GCF) is the French affiliate of Green Cross International. In February  2002, GCF starts  its activity  in Lyon and is now located  in Paris. As a member  of Green Cross International, GCF devotes itself to the reinforcement of general programs of Green Cross International in France. It leads regional and national mediation missions in the water field. It builds up project to support disadvantaged  people in developing  countries  and in conflict areas. Green Cross France also organizes  communication  event, press conference, conferences in France and abroad.

Green Cross France is particularly involved on the water field. GCF leads program in water and sanitation in the Middle East and in Africa. The program Water for Peace in the Middle East, in partnership with the Center Peres for Peace, contributes to the peace effort in the region. The organization contributes also to the research and the activities  for the recognition  and the implementation  of the right to water for all. Since September  2007, Green Cross France leads the international campaign for the ratification and the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Non-navigational  Uses of International  Watercourses. The Convention was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1997 and has not reached the 35 mandatory  ratifications  to enter into force; 20 are missing as of today.  The goal of the campaign is to help the Convention enter into force for the 5th World Water Forum, in Istanbul (March 2009) The World Water Forum will then be optimized and leveraged to promote further ratification and boost the Convention’s implementation.
